Cue the confetti, it’s my one year anniversary! That’s right, Elaine Marie Copyediting & Copywriting is turning 1!
What a long, crazy ride it’s been… (I was homeschooled, so I never got the chance to write that in someone’s yearbook).
But seriously, it’s been nuts. Sometimes I look back on my life and think “oh wow, I’ve done nothing,” so it’s been really nice to look back over this past year, with all of its ups and downs, and say “oh wow, I’ve done a thing I’ve wanted to do for a very long time. And it’s working.”
So let us all rejoice together: Elaine Marie Copyediting & Copywriting is officially one year old!
I’m not going to pretend that’s its been all sunshine and daisies, but every challenge (imposter syndrome, fruitless hours of client hunting, lack of motivation, etc., etc., etc.) has made each victory all the sweeter.
Now that a year has come and gone, it’s exciting to think of everything to come. I of course have a decent number of financial goals, but I also have some travel goals – after all, one of the biggest reasons I started freelancing was to have the freedom to travel more. There are some overall life goals I’d like to start working towards, as well as some spiritual ones, and when I say all of this is tied to my freelancing journey, I’m not exaggerating.
I won’t bore you with too many of the details, but my life hasn’t always been what I planned for (and I’m a planner to a fault), which has led to some pretty disappointing revelations and choices that did not always work out in my favor. But I’m here now, and freelancing has given me the freedom to pursue what makes me want to wake up every morning. It’s allowed me to believe, for the first time in a long time, that I have some control over what happens next.
So thank you!
